I searched on Cartoon Brew (which, by the way, is a great cartoon and animation blog that takes a professional look at animation) and I came across a cartoon done by Toei Animation (famous for Sailor Moon, Cyborg 009, Yu-Gi-Oh!, One Piece, and much more) from way back in the 1950s, when they were a brand-new company, ready to become the Japanese equivalent of Disney. This one, Koneko no Rakugaki, or "Kitty's Graffiti", seems so familiar, yet so different. As it said in the blog entry on Cartoon Brew,
In [Koneko no Rakugaki] the face of the main character is not shown from a three-quarter or front view until well over two minutes in the cartoon, even though hes onscreen for much of that time. I cant think of a single example of when thats happened in a Hollywood theatrical short.Watch it on the embedded videos at this
